Building Resilience in Water and Sanitation Key to Managing COVID-19 in the Pacific

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (27 January 2022) — Utility companies that deliver water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in the urban areas of the Pacific region need to invest more and plan their business continuity and water safety programs amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, according to a new ADB report.

World Water Week is a non-profit event, co-created together with leading organizations. It offers an unusual mix of participants and perspectives, with sessions on a broad array of water-related topics, ranging from food security and health, to agriculture, technology, biodiversity, and the climate crisis.

4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit

The 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit (4th APWS) will be held in Kumamoto City, Japan, in which high-level delegates including heads of states and representatives from international organizations in the Asia-Pacific region will discuss various water-related issues.

The 4th APWS will also share with the world the long-standing efforts of the host city, Kumamoto, in conserving groundwater as well as its recovering efforts from the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes.

The biennial event gathers stakeholders from the global water industry to share best practices, showcase the latest technologies and tap business opportunities. SIWW is part of the strategic programme of the Singapore Government to grow the water industry and develop water technologies.
