Strengthening multi-stakeholder engagement and mutual accountability in water, sanitation and hygiene: Cross-country synthesis

This report synthesizes research findings on multi-stakeholder platforms and mutual accountability across five countries that received catalytic funds from Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) in 2022. The five countries were Indonesia, Kenya, Nepal, Niger and Paraguay. This synthesis report identifies common enabling factors that support effective multi-stakeholder collaboration, and common challenges that often inhibit this collaboration.

WASH FINANCE: Accessing Commercial Finance for Water and Sanitation Service Providers in Kenya, Cambodia, and Senegal

This paper presents three case studies from the USAID Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Finance (WASHFIN) Program, which illustrate different approaches to leveraging commercial finance in the water supply and sanitation (WSS) sector. The Program implemented activities in ten countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America since 2016 and helped raise over US$118.8 million from a mix of public and private financing sources.

Self-supply of water in Asia and the Pacific: Country Profiles

To increase awareness and understanding of self-supply of water in Asia and the Pacific, the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures has partnered with UNICEF EAPRO and UNICEF ROSA to develop 21 country profiles. The following country profiles present the prevalence of self-supply, spatial and temporal trends, service levels including water quality and availability, equity dimensions, and policy aspects of
self-supply in each country.

UN-Water Global Analysis and Assessment of Sanitation and Drinking-Water (GLAAS) Data Portal

GLAAS provides policy- and decision-makers at all levels with reliable, easily accessible, comprehensive data on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) systems, including on governance, monitoring, human resources and finance. GLAAS monitors elements of WASH systems that are required to sustain and extend WASH services and systems to all, and especially to the most vulnerable population groups.

Human-Centered Design for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (HCD for WASH)

In WASH, HCD has been used to design new technologies, service delivery models, behavior change strategies, marketing materials and even courses and training materials. HCD promotes deep engagement with users to nurture innovative, sustainable and scalable solutions. The HCDforWASH platform provides tools and resources for all stages of HCD project development: discovery, creation, delivery.

JAXA Realtime Rainfall Watch shows global precipitation map called "Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation" (GSMaP). Users can easily monitor the spatial extent of rainfall in real-time including heavy rainfall and typhoons/cyclones.

JAXA Climate Rainfall Watch shows global precipitation map called "Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (GSMaP)" for time scales from daily to monthly. It provides extreme heavy rainfall and drought indices using over-20-years GSMaP statistics. Users can easily monitor the indices as well as mean values of global precipitation on a map.
